ANU is trialling a campus bus service to make getting around campus easier, more accessible and more sustainable. The service officially launches on 16 February 2026, with the bus operating on campus from 9 February for early use while bus stop infrastructure is finalised.

Update 19 March 2026: The ANU Civic Loop Bus timetable will now operate between 7.50am and 7.30pm on weekdays, excluding public holidays. The first service of the day will be at 7.50am and the final loop finishes at 7.45pm.

The ANU-Civic Loop Bus operates every 20 minutes on weekdays from 7:30am to 7:30pm (excluding public holidays), completing a loop around the Acton campus. The service uses a 49-seat, wheelchair-accessible bus, with space for two wheelchairs. View the timetable.

Please note: during the early pilot phase (9–15 February), some stops will not yet be wheelchair accessible while infrastructure upgrades are completed. Early adopters are welcome to start using the service from 9 February and help shape the trial by sharing feedback.

Campus bus stops

The route includes key stops along Rimmer, Alinga, Marcus Clarke and Liversidge Street, and Garran and Daley Road, helping connect major teaching, research and residential areas.

The service runs in a continuous clockwise loop, starting at ANU Rimmer Street, with stops listed below in order of travel. An interactive map is also available.

  1. ANU Rimmer Street
  2. City West Alinga Street
  3. Marcus Clarke Street after Farrell Place
  4. Liversidge Street after Ellery Crescent
  5. Garran Road after Liversidge Street
  6. Garran Road at Graduate House
  7. Daley Road at Johns XXIII

Large items on board

The campus bus does not have a dedicated storage space. The only flexible area is the wheelchair space with fold-up seating, which is always prioritised for accessibility.

When not required for accessibility needs, this space may be used for prams, scooters and e-scooters. Bikes and e-bikes are not permitted on board.

Any other items carried on board must be kept with the passenger at all times and must not obstruct the aisle, doors or priority seating. Space availability may vary depending on passenger needs.

Supporting sustainable and active travel

The ANU-Civic Loop Bus pilot encourages shared transport, reduces reliance on single-occupancy vehicles and makes it easier to combine walking, cycling and public transport.

By improving campus connectivity, the service supports active commuting choices and helps reduce the University’s overall environmental impact.
