Electric vehicle (EV) charging at ANU has expanded, providing greater access to sustainable transport options for staff, students and the wider Canberra community. Five new fast chargers have been installed in the Fulton Muir Building carpark, bringing the total number of on-campus chargers to 13.
The ANU EV charging network includes a charger at Geology Close, alongside the fast-charging hub launched in 2024 near the School of Art and Design (SOAD) as part of the ACT Government’s public funding to support Canberra’s EV charging network expansion.
Delivered in partnership with ENGIE, this expansion is part of a broader strategy to support the University’s commitment to a more sustainable campus and carbon smart transport options for our community. Additional chargers on campus will be rolled out in future, subject to demand, electrical infrastructure and parking space availability.
EV charging locations at ANU
ANU currently provides 13 public EV chargers across three locations on campus:
- Five new fast chargers in the Fulton Muir Building carpark.
- Six fast chargers in the School of Art and Design carpark near Canberra REP Theatre (Formerly Theatre 3).
- Payment for both the above locations can be made through the ChargeFox app.
- Two chargers in the Geology Close carpark in front of the Ian Ross Building. Charging is free to the public and supported by the ANU School of Engineering.
Check PlugShare.com for more information on these locations.
Chargers are available for use by ANU staff, students, and the wider community, supporting Canberra’s growing EV network.
Investing in EV infrastructure is just one way ANU is working towards supporting sustainable transport to and on campus. Learn more about sustainable commuting options at the Carbon Smart Commuting webpage. For key information and safety notices for EV charging on campus, visit this page.
