Help shape how ANU takes action on climate change, nature and the circular economy.

Consultation is now open for the next Environmental Sustainability Plan 2026–2030.

What is this about?

The Environmental Sustainability Plan 2026–2030 will guide how sustainability is embedded in governance, operations and community life at ANU and how it’s integrated into research and teaching across the University.

It builds on earlier efforts, including the Environmental Management Plan 2022–2025 and ANU Below Zero.

We’re inviting students and staff to help shape the goals and activities that will guide the next five years, ensuring the Plan reflects our shared priorities and enables meaningful, practical action across all parts of the University.

How can I contribute?

There are two easy ways to get involved:

Join a workshop

Join one or all three of our in-person workshops in June, each focused on a key theme:

  • Climate action – Wednesday 11 June 11 am-12 pm
  • Circular economy – Thursday 12 June 1.30-2.30 pm
  • Nature – Tuesday 17 June 10-11 am

Register for a workshop (or three)

What’s in the draft Plan?

The Plan is built around three strategic drivers:

  • Climate action – reducing emissions and building resilience
  • Circular economy – optimising resource use and reducing waste
  • Nature – protecting and restoring biodiversity

These are supported by enabling pathways such as governance, operations, teaching, research, and community engagement, connecting high-level goals to everyday action.
