Sustainability at ANU


ANUgreen works with staff, students, and campus visitors to provide leadership, and develop innovative solutions, in the pursuit of an environmentally sustainable campus.

Since 2001 Environmental Management Plans have provided a map for implementing initiatives. As a result the University has made significant improvements in its environmental performance.
  • 50% drop in per capita water consumption since 2006.
  • 9% drop in per capita energy use since 2006.
  • 27% reduction in per capita waste since 2006.
  • The Frank Fenner Building achieved a six star Green Star rating demonstrating world leadership.
  • 41% reduction in fleet fuel consumption.
  • ANU has a forest of 10 000 trees.
