Sustainability at ANU


ANUgreen works with staff, students, and visitors to develop innovative solutions in the pursuit of an environmentally sustainable campus.

Our Environmental Management Plan (pdf 266KB) provides a road map for implementing sustainability initiatives. Since 2001 the University has made significant improvements in its environmental performance.
  • 50% drop in per capita water consumption since 2006.
  • 9% drop in per capita energy use since 2006.
  • 27% reduction in per capita waste since 2006.
  • The Frank Fenner Building achieved a six star Green Star rating demonstrating world leadership.
  • 41% reduction in fleet fuel consumption.
  • ANU has a forest of 10 000 trees.
